About

Developer.
Builder.
Curious.

I'm McVee — a web developer who's been building things on the internet since 2019. I work across the full stack, but I'm most at home where engineering meets design.

McVee — web developer

The Story

I didn't study computer science. I learned to code because I had an idea I couldn't get out of my head and no one to build it for me.

That first project — a side-by-side code editor I built in a weekend — taught me more than any course could. I shipped it, people used it, and I was hooked. Not on the technology, but on the feeling of making something real that other people found useful.

Since then I've worked at agencies, joined a fintech startup as a senior engineer, and eventually gone independent. The through-line has always been the same: I care deeply about the quality of what I build. Not just whether it works, but whether it feels right to use.

I'm drawn to hard problems — the kind where the technical challenge and the design challenge are the same challenge. Where the right architecture makes the product feel inevitable. That's the work I find most satisfying, and it's what I do best.

How I Work

Principles I build by

01

Craft over speed

I'd rather take an extra day to get something right than ship something I'm not proud of. Quality compounds.

02

Simplicity is earned

The simplest solution is usually the hardest to find. I keep digging until the complexity disappears.

03

Details signal intent

The micro-interactions, the loading states, the error messages — they tell users whether you care. I care.

04

Curiosity as practice

I read widely, build side projects, and stay genuinely curious about how things work. It makes the work better.

Background

How I got here

2025

Independent Practice

Went independent — working with startups and product teams on high-stakes web projects. Focused on the intersection of engineering quality and user experience.

2023

Senior Engineer, Fintech Startup

Led frontend architecture for a Series B fintech product. Built the design system, owned the dashboard experience, and helped scale the team from 4 to 14 engineers.

2021

Full-Stack Developer, Agency

Shipped products for clients across logistics, healthcare, and e-commerce. Learned to move fast without breaking things — and when to slow down.

2019

Started Building

Taught myself to code through obsession and late nights. First real project: a side-by-side code editor that somehow got 800 GitHub stars.

Work Together

Let's make
something.

I'm selective about the projects I take on — I want to do great work, not just more work. If you have something worth building, I'd love to hear about it.
